We are Victor and Alicia Mercado. We have been married for almost 15 years now, raising 4 children, ages 10, 6, 5, and 3. About 8 years ago we lost a son, Diego, to a genetic defect that affected his whole body. He was a precious little boy, so sweet, like a little angel on earth but his body was so broken. We were blessed to have him here with us for a year and 3 1/2 months.
It’s been a wild and crazy ride ever since the day he was born, but I wouldn’t change it for a second. We’ve learned so many things about ourselves, about the world, about our faith in God and each other and how to value life. It saddens me sometimes to think that without having gone through such a traumatic event, our lives may have never changed. However, through our experiences we have come to find meaning and are living a life of significance. Our lives have come full-circle through these last 8 years and we are fit mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally, ready to begin a dream we’ve had for a while as you’ll see below.
Our passion is nutrition. Since our sons passing, we have spent many hours researching and have come to find what we believe to be the best supplements on the market today. They have kept me and my kids healthy for the last 6 years and they have turned my husband’s health around 3 times (you’d think he’d learn by now-3rd times a charm right!). It is our mission to share these products with you because we want everyone to enjoy the quality of life that we do.
Two years ago we bought 4 acres of land in Waller, Texas for selfish reasons, but a voice kept resonating inside both of us that it was not about us. Most of us go through life acquiring material things trying to fill voids that are never filled and we’ve had our share. We don’t want our legacy to be an old tin barn falling apart 50 or 100 years from now as someone is driving by. As you all know, when we die we don’t take anything with us but what we do for others lives on forever so our vision was born to build ‘Diego’s House.’ We are going to use the majority of our property for this noble cause that God has placed in our hearts.
We will use a part of the proceeds from our business, private funding and donations to build Diego’s House. The target date for this project is the fall of 2014. Diego’s House will be a place for children with special needs to come ride and pet our horses and other animals. It will be a refuge for sick or terminally ill children as well as for grieving parents and grandparents to come and visit or just get away for a while.
Join us and continue to see our progress. If you’d like to contribute to Diego’s House, make the switch to real plant, whole food supplements and give your family a fighting chance.
I will find a way…
All I can say is I am crying and so proud of both of you. Alicia, I met you when you were 3. Standing at the end of the driveway with your head down and so bashful. Today I see a strong, caring, Christian woman who has made a difference in this world. I couldn’t be any prouder of you if you were my own daughter. I love you both and to Diego, “Be sweet my little angel and one day I will see you again.”
Dear Victor and Alicia, I am cryng too! so proud of both of you! is a wonderful project I know God will provide everything as you expect and

Alicia – I am crying just thinking about all the families you are going to help in Diego’s house. What a special place it will be. I am so honored to be your friend and am amazed at how much you teach ME about life and love! Love you girl.

You’re making me cry too but I think we tend to do that to each other! Thank you for standing by me through the good and the bad times. You are a true friend and I am blessed to have you in my life. This is all God’s doing, not my own. Just keep praying for us that we will take the right steps and it will all come to fruition. Hugs!
