Food for Thought

So I posted on facebook a quick and easy lunch idea.  Super simple, quick and easy.  That’s what works for me.  I don’t really enjoy cooking, but I love eating clean and knowing I’m feeding and fueling my body right.

Someone made a comment and it got me thinking.  They said something about penny pinching and not buying the pre-bagged salads.  I totally get that.  I’m super frugal myself, but I also sometimes pay for convenience, but not always & if the cost outweighs the food going to waste and/or the time I would spend to prepare it.

Another thing to think about besides the upfront cost, is the cost down the road when it comes to food choices.  Many people don’t even think about nor do the plan for medical costs when thinking about groceries and the foods they are eating regularly.  But you need to take it into account.  You’ll spend far more on time and gas money to and from doctor’s visits, not to mention the co-pays for the visit, medications, etc.  And then there’s procedures that need to be done, special tests, hospitalizations.

Most don’t plan for it, nor do they think about it, but when it happens you end up coming up with the money somehow and/or going in debt for it.

I honestly would rather pay to prevent it.  It’s a much easier road in my opinion.  How about you?  What are your thoughts??  Have you experienced some of this?  In the long run, I’d say it’s much less expensive to stay in good health.  =)
